The He 111V-8, registered as D-AQUO, was an experimental prototype aircraft. It was a rebuilt He 111B-0 airframe that underwent significant modifications. The primary purpose of the He 111V-8 was to test a completely redesigned forward fuselage.
Key features and details include:
Its nose gunner’s position was offset to starboard.
The V-8 was one of the prototypes from which improvements were combined into the He 111V-19.
It made its maiden flight in January 1938.
The He 111V-8, along with the V-7 and V-23, contributed to the experience and test results that were later integrated into other He 111 versions.
