The Anson Mk IV variant consisted of British-built airframes that were converted in Canada. Initially, only a few of these conversions were made. However, 223 airframes were specifically built for shipment to Canada to be fitted with new engines. These aircraft were powered by two Wright Whirlwind R-975-E3 engines, with some specifically using 300 h.p. Wright Whirlwind R-760-E1 radials. The trial installation for the Anson Mk IV was performed in England on aircraft R9816.
