The Avro Anson XI was a British-built variant of the Anson series, produced to meet domestic needs. This mark was designed to serve primarily as a light transport aircraft. A distinguishing feature of the Anson XI was its raised cabin roof, which provided increased headroom within the cabin. It was powered by two Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah XIX engines, which drove Fairey-Reed fixed-pitch metal airscrews. Unlike earlier models such as the Anson I, the Anson XI incorporated hydraulically-operated landing gear and flaps. The Anson XI was configured to carry a crew of two and six passengers or light freight. The Anson XII, another British version, was similar to the Anson XI, but featured different engines and was known in its civil guise as the Avro XIX.
